My Standard & Purpose Of Wanting To Be Married

In my journey in knowing God, I see that he is a father who gives quality gifts. That I can ask God for one of his sons to marry and know that he will give me nothing less than his best. Matthew‬ ‭7:11‬ ‭NLT‬‬ “So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.” I believe it’s important to have guidelines to what you will accept and what you will reject. It’s vital that what you want is in alignment with God declares you should have in his word.

The son God has for me must Love God with all his heart, mind, strength, and soul. Which is the first commandment that all of his children are not exempt fromHe has to know his identity in Christ. If he loves God then I know he will obey him every area of his life. In knowing God he is able to truly know himself.  A person dealing with an identity crisis produces instability in everything he does, for he is double-minded. See (James‬ ‭1:6, 8‬) Being secure and having soundness of mind is the heart of God for us. It shows that God who is love is involved in our union.

It’s essential for him to be filled with the Holy Spirit. In having the Holy Spirit comes the fruits of the spirit that can only be yielded by the spirit. “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!” (Galatians‬ ‭5:22-23) A marriage without these is like a prison sentence with your spouse being your cell mate. I can’t imagine being tied down for life to a husband  lacking all these things. Unconditional love is what I need and so desire to have in a long-lasting, fulfilling, bless marriage.  “Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:4-7)

He should be available for marriage physically, soulfully, and spiritually. There shouldn’t be any women of romantic interest in the picture. Any women that could possibly be a threat should be removed. Same with the soul, there should be no soul ties with former ex’s or love interests. Though no one is physically in the way, yet mentally, emotionally, in the depths of the heart someone already lives there. There is no room for me if a man is in that state. I refuse to compete or be compared to other women.  Spiritually he must not be married to anything that is not of God’s spirit. That agreement would go against any holy agreement concerning me as his wife. It’s very important that a unavailable man in any form should be rejected. He has to do the necessary soul work to make sure his soul is prospering. Have a routine self examination which the Bible tells us to do as a spiritual checkup. (See 1 Corinthians 11:32) In doing so he is able to  maintain healthy relationships like marriage.

He ought to have a teachable spirit. Always ready to learn, be corrected, and humble. In doing so he will be a meek, mature, and responsible man of God. Who surrounds himself  with like-mined men who holds him accountable  in his walk with Christ. A respectable man that set healthy boundaries is a quality man indeed.  A man of great value that God would approve of for his daughter. “Fathers can give their sons an inheritance of houses and wealth, but only the Lord can give an understanding wife.” (Proverbs‬ ‭19:14‬ ‭NLT‬)
“He who finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favor from the lord.”

My purpose in wanting to be married is ministry. I want my marriage to be an example of Christ love for the church and the church's submission to Christ. “As the church submits to Christ, so you wives should submit to your husbands in everything.” (Ephesians‬ ‭5:24‬ ‭NLT)‬‬ I am able to be apart of what it looks like to walk in full submission and honor before the Lord. My husband gets to represent Jesus Christ by how he treats me as a part of his body.  “For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault. In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself. No one hates his own body but feeds and cares for it, just as Christ cares for the church.”(‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5:25-29‬ ‭NLT)‬‬ To understand this type of love, it has to be lived out loud on the earth. It's amazing to know our union is being heaven on earth as a light reflection the kingdom.

What also motives me to want to be married is being involve in a holy covenant. It’s a honor to part take in a sacred union that God designed before sin ever enter the earth. I know everything God designed is to develop us into his likeness. Marriage is made to make us holy and even aided in keeping us holy. “But because there is so much sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman should have her own husband.” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭7:2‬ ‭NLT‬‬) “Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.”
‭‭(Hebrews‬ ‭13:4‬ ‭NKJV‬) I choose to take advantage of the gift of marriage in being a great steward over it.

I‘m also inspired to play the role of a help meet to my husband. “And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.”(‭‭Genesis‬ ‭2:18‬ ‭KJV‬‬) To assist my husband in his God-given assignment on earth is truly a blessing. This reminds me of the Holy Spirit's job as the helper. (Read John 14:26 NKJV) He aids us in our earthly assignment as well. So it’s like partnering up with the spirit of God to get kingdom business done on the earth.

I hope this blesses you and even stirred you!
